21 arrested over posting nude pictures of children on Internet

Thiruvananthapuram: 21 people were arrested for sharing nude pictures and videos of children.  The arrest following an investigation by Hi-Tech cell and cyber cell of Kerala police in the name ‘Operation P- Hunt’ with the help of Interpol in 45 places of 12 districts.

In the raid, police seized laptops, mobile phones, hard discs and USB drives.  The arrested included minors.

Police was tracing the activities of viewing and sharing the nude content over social media such as Whatsapp, Facebook and Telegram for the past one month. Police collected the information of 84 accounts that became active on Sunday and arrested 21 of them. And the rest remain under investigation.

Police conducted five raids at Thiruvananthapuram city and Ernakulam rural,  seven at Alappuzha, four at Thrissur city and Malappuram, and two at Kollam city, Kollam rural and Kozhikode rural.

The total of 26 cases registered in the state include four at Malappuram, three at Thiruvananthapuram city and two at Kollam city, Kollam rural, Alappuzha, Ernakulam city and Ernakulam rural.

Many of those accounts were deleted after the news of arrests came out.

The investigation team lead by ADGP Manoj Abraham, included various top officers of police department.
