Infant rushed from Mangalore to Kochi undergone surgery

Kochi: The infant bought from Mangalore to Kochi on Tuesday underwent heart surgery.  The health condition of the child was declared as ‘stable’ after a seven-hour long surgery by the doctors.

A team of doctors led by Dr.Krishnakumar and Dr.Brijesh conducted cardio-pulmonary bypass surgery on the infant.

In the surgery which started at Thursday 9 am and wascompleted around 4 pm, the hole in the heart was plugged, contraction of the heart valve was corrected and extensive repair of the aorta was undertaken.

At the peak traffif hour on Tuesday, roads in Kerala were cleared for the ambulance to rush the Infant to Sree Chitra hospital Thiruvananthapuram.

But later the infant was brought to Amrita Hospital at Kochi after the intervention of Health Minister K K Shailaja, and with the state government offering treatment free of cost under the Hridayam scheme.
