Emapanelled drivers: KSRTC to appeal against HC verdict

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC)  has decided to appeal against the High Court verdict to retrench the empanelled drivers currently being employed by the state-run corporation it.  The decision was taken at a meeting attended by the Transport minister AK Saseendran and other high ranking officers.

If KSRTC implements the  High Court’s verdict, approximately 700 services will be at risk.  Empanelled drivers are being appointed to fill the vacancies of permanent drivers who are on leave. This was essential to not cancel the services.  High court didn’t consider this.  KSRTC will apprise the Supreme Court of the situation, the minister said.

An earlier Supreme Court  verdict had aid that KSRTC only needed to appoint conductors taking into its  financial situation.
