Overturned tanker causes gas spill

Malappuram: A gas spill followed after an LPG-laden tanker overturned at Panambra near Calicut University, Malappuram.

The accident is said to have taken place around 3.30 am.

The vehicle, belonging to Indian Oil Corportation, was going from Kochi to Mangalore. It fell into a pit by the road causing a gas spill.

People living in the region have been evacuated and a high alert is put on.

Traffic along the National Highway 66 has been diverted on Friday morning. Police said it would take a few hours to reopen the road.
