MA Yusuf Ali donates Rs. 5.5 Cr for modern residential building at Gandhibhavan

Pathanapuram: An ultra-modern residential building is being built, to house 200 forsaken mothers at Gandhibhavan, a rehabilitation home here for elderly women, at an expense of Rs. 5 crore.

On the first day of Ramadan, prominent business leader and Lulu Group chairman MA Yusuf Ali announced his donation of the amount required for construction of the building. An additional amount of Rs. 50 lakhs was also donated for repaying the advances taken for the food expenses of the inhabitants at Gandhibhavan.

There are more than thousand inhabitants and two hundred volunteers at Gandhibhavan. Yusuf Ali had earlier donated an amount of Rs. 3 Cr to the institution, which is in addition to the annual grant of Rs. 1 Cr he extends to  the institution every year.

Provisions will be made in the new facility to accommodate bedridden patients and mothers. Yusuf Ali informed Gandhibhavan authorities that his intention was to provide good facilities for the forlorn mothers unto their last.

Yusuf Ali's secretary EA Haris, Manager N. Pithambaran and Media Co-ordinator NB Swaraj visited Gandhibhavan, announced the donation and handed over a cheque of Rs. 50 lakh to mothers staying at the facility.
