Kochi: Kerala High Court today ordered to register a case against a woman who falsely alleged sexual harassment against a youth and embroiled him into a police case. Justice Sunil Thomas ordered befitting action against fake complaints considering the the usual weightage given to statements of the complainants in sexual harassment cases.
The High Court intervention comes in a case registered in 2013 at Thiruvananthapuram. The woman had complained that the youth, with whom she was living, sexually exploited her after promising a marriage. A case was registered against the youth following the complaint.
In 2016, the youth approached the High Court and pleaded to annul the case in the wake of a deal made with the complainant. However, the court did not consider the deal and decided to examine the details.
