Spare Chandy from sexual allegations, HC says

Kochi: Kerala High Court here today ordered removal  of the sexual allegations raised against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, from Solar Commission Report.

The court was considering a plea by  Oommen Chandy, Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan and others,  to annul the report as it contains defaming allegations. However, the court did not annul the report.

The court also ordered the government to review any action taken by it based on the commission's findings. However, the court dismissed a petition filed by former Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan against the commission's finding against him.

Allegations raised by Sarita S. Nair are not within the scope of the investigation of the commission. There is no objection to other parts of the  enquiry report. The report should be considered after removing the remarks and the letter of Sarita, the court said.  If any press release has been made containing references to the letter,  the release has to be revised accordingly  the court ordered.

The court had earlier wondered how the letter of Sarita S. Nair, which is not at all a subject of inquiry, came to be mentioned in several parts of the Commission report.
