Thiruvananthapuram: The trawling ban enforced by the state government will begin from Saturday midnight and continue till July 31.
Only traditional boats will be allowed to venture out into the sea during the ban. Boats from other states have been ordered to leave the harbours.
Fuel pumps supplying diesel to boats will also be closed from Saturday midnight.
The duration of the ban has been extended to 52 days as a step to raise it to 61 days on a par with other southern states.
