Kozhikode: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will launch on December 30 the state’s ambitious Kerala Chicken initiative, promising quality and fair price.
The project by the Animal Husbandry Department will be implemented in association with Wayanad-based Brahmagiri Development Society (BDS) initially in Kozhikode, Malapuram, Wayanad and Palakkad districts.
Rs 43.82 crore project with 2,000 stalls and 6,000 farms might give jobs to 20,000 people over next five years, according to BDS chairman P Krishnadas. The project might end exploitation of famers by middlemen.
There will be 10 sales outlets in four districts and four units in Kozhikode(one) and Malapuram( three) targeting 10 percent of total chicken sold in Kerala in next three years.
