Assembly sinks in ruckus over Muneer’s wall remark

Thiruvanthapuram: The Kerala assembly on Thursday sank in commotion after lawmaker MK Muneer dubbed the government’s much-touted woman’s wall as a communal wall, leading to belligerent behaviour.

Alongside, LDF members started protesting in the well of the house asking Muneer to withdraw his remark, which he refused.

He tried in vain to explain his stand that he had no interest in the renaissance meant to please only Vellappally Natesan and CP Sugathan.

Speaker denied permission for adjournment motion; the Opposition staged a walk out and LDF members confronted them causing a tussle involving Eranad MLA PK Basheer and Varkala MLA V Joy pushing and shoving each other.
