Toddler relief-camp inmate dies of brain fever

Alapuzha: A toddler lodged at a flood relief camp in Chengannur died of encephalitis. Nivedya, two-and-a-half-year-old daughter of couple Sunil and Anupama, died at KIMS hospital Thiruvananthapuram.

Nivedya developed fever on Thursday. As her condition worsened leading to aphasia( loss of speech), Nivedya was taken to a hospital nearby her relative’s house in Adoor.

With no change in condition, she was admitted to another hospital in Kollam where she was diagnosed with brain fever. Subsequently, Nivedya was rushed to KIMS hospital where she died.
