Kochi: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has closed three shutters of Idamalayar dam as the water level dropped below the maximum capacity of the reservoir.
At present, the water level is 168.95 metres and maximum capacity of the dam is 169 metres.
As the water level fell below the maximum capacity, shutter number three was closed on Saturday morning at 7. Another shutter will be closed by afternoon.
Water level rose in Periyar river after the three shutters of the dam were opened. The operations at Nedumbassery airport were stopped for two hours as the nearest places were unundated.
Shutters of Idamalayar dam were opened after five years.
