Kottayam: DC Books released the first edition of S Harish’s controversial novel “Meesha” (Moustache) in book form.
The 328 page novel’s printing finished on Tuesday. DC Books publication manager A V Sreekumar said that the book had been made available on shelves across its branches in and out of the state.
The sale of the book, priced at 299, would start today. There was no special book releasing ceremony. Novelist S Harish was not interested in it either.
As the news of the novel’s book form came out, DC Books authorities started receiving threats both online and by phone. The publisher said that the same elements who had mounted online attack earlier were behind the latest threats too.
DC Ravi in a complaint filed with Kottayam East police station demanded strong action against people who had abused him and DC Books in foul language. He accused Krishnan Chuduvalathur hailing from Ottapalam of habitually posting defaming statements and threats on social media. Police have initiated steps to arrest him.
Home department has directed SPs of Kottayam and Palakad to take the threats seriously. However, the threats against the book and the author has not ended yet. Some caste outfits are still up in arms against the book. A caste outfit called for boycotting the publication that had previously serialised the novel.
