G Sudhakaran to be given additional responsibility of Excise department

Thiruvananthapuram: PWD Minister G Sudhakaran will be looking after the Excise Department until Minister T P Ramakrishnan recovers, government sources said on Tuesday.

As per reports, Sudhakaran received official information regarding the additional responsibility Monday evening.

T P Ramakrishnan, Minister of Excise and Labour, is under treatment in a hospital in Kozhikode after he suffered a heart attack on March 12.

Sixty seven-year-old Ramakrishnan was admitted to the Intensive care Unit of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, after he complained of chest pain. The Minister had undergone angioplasty after two blocks were detected in his arteries. He is under observation at the super-speciality block of the hospital.

Ramakrishnan was at his residence in Perambara in the district, when he complained of chest pain.

Sudhakaran’s taking over the Excise department is in a crucial moment as the LDF government is all set to announce several important decisions related to the department including the much awaited new liquor policy.
