Views in 'Veekashanam' editorial not that of Congress: M M Hassan

Thiruvananthapuram: In a damage control exercise, KPCC President M M Hassan on Saturday came out with a clarification that the views in the editorial of party mouthpiece 'Veekashanam' that criticized the politics of Kerala Congress leader K M Mani was not that of the Congress.

In a statement sent to the media, Hassan said that the party expressed apology for publishing the editorial.

The Congress mouthpiece, in a hard hitting editorial on Saturday, attacked Mani, erstwhile partner of the Congress led UDF, saying that his political history was not that of 'righteous'.

'Veekashanam' said Mani's politics was always that of "business, not righteous and unethical".

The editorial was in the wake of an editorial in KC(M)'s mouthpiece that the party chief K M Mani had an offer of "Chief Ministership" from the then CPI(M) led LDF opposition, but saved the previous UDF government not accepting the offer.

Hassan said it was a unilateral decision of KC-M to leave UDF.

KPCC had only expressed dissatisfaction and protest over KC-M for the deceitful stand taken during the Kottayam District Panchayat polls, he added.
