Kozhikode: Efforts should be taken to make Calicut University a frontrunner among universities in the state, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Saturday.
Inaugurating the year-long golden jubilee celebrations of the university here, he said, "our aim should be to make the university a frontrunner among universities in Kerala and a world-class educational institution."
The state government would provide support to provide amenities in the institution, he said.
A high level of education would only be able to create new ideas and business-like approach as found in European countries and the US, he added.
Kerala Education Minister C Raveendranath, who is pro vice-chancellor of the university, Member of Parliament P K Kunhalikutty, MLA P Abdul Hameed, University Vice-Chancellor Dr K Mohammed Basheer and others participated in the function.
"Vision 2030," a long-term comprehensive project report to be prepared by the university in the golden jubilee year, would provide amenities, including a centralised sophisticated instrumentation facility, Pariksha Bhavan, centre for IT solutions and a skill development centre, in the first phase.
