Kollam: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called off Wednesday’s dawn-to-dusk hartal in Kerala.
The party had on Monday called for a state wide hartal on Wednesday to protest the denial of bail to its leader Abdul Nasser Madani by a Bengaluru court.
PDP state working committee chairman Poonthura Siraj who announced the hartal in a press conference, said that Madani instructed to call it off.
Madani has been jailed in connection with the Bengaluru blast case.
He had submitted the bail plea in order to attend the wedding of his son Umar Mukhthar to be held at Thalassery on August 9.
However, the court allowed bail only from August 1 to August 7 to visit his mother and Madani would have to return without attending the wedding.
