Bevco employees to get bonus of Rs 85000 despite Thomas Isaac’s disagreement

Thiruvananthapuram: The employees of the Kerala State Beverages Corporation will get 29.5% bonus this year, with the higher cap pegged at Rs 85,000, despite a disagreement from Finance Minister Thomas Isaac.

Isaac had suggested a judicious cap for the bonus of Bevco employees like the one he has introduced in KSFE this year. In a letter to Chief Minister pinarayi Vijayan, Isaac had mentioned about the 'fiscal irresponsibility' prevailing in the system of bonus distribution. The minister had suggested the need to rationalize the bonus.

The Chief Minister, however, is of an opinion that there is no need to change the opinion.

The employees who are now with the Bevco through deputation would not get the announced bonus from next year. They would instead be getting the incentive followed by their actual organization.

Isaac had written about the negotiations held with KSFE management and unions and how he could convince them to accept a lower bonus this year. The KSFE unions also demanded a higher incentive this year, but, after negotiations, they accepted 7.75% incentive with Rs 75,000 as the highest incentive.
