Thiruvananthapuram: Cadell Jeansen Raja, arrested in connection with the recent murder of members of his family, has confessed to the crime, police said.
However, police have not yet been able to unravel the motive behind the murders of his parents, sister and an aunt in the heart of the city.
The accused, who is being questioned by senior police officials, will be produced before a court Wednesday.
Police said the 30-year-old accused is suspected to be suffering from Schizophrenia.
The crime in the well educated family, came to light on Sunday morning after local people alerted police as smoke and fire broke out. It sent shock waves as it took place in the city's posh Nathencode locality, close to Cliff House, official residence of Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan and some of his cabinet colleagues.
Cadell's mother is a retired cardiologist, father a former history professor and sister was studying MBBS in China.
The three bodies were found charred beyond recognition.
The body of his aunt was found cut into pieces and packed in a sack.
Police said crime was committed on different days.
The MBBS dropout was arrested soon after he landed at the railway station here from Chennai on April 10.
