Case filed against Sasikala for hate speech

Kanhangad: A case has been filed against Hindu Aikya Vedi leader K P Sasikala for hate speech.

The case was filed at Hosdurg police station following a complaint by C Shukoor, Public Prosecutor at Kasargod district court.

As per reports, she has been charged with Section 153 (A), a cognizable offence and the punishment for it may extend to three years imprisonment, or with fine, or with both. However, the punishment of the offence committed in a place of worship is enhanced up to five years and fine.

The section is explained as promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony offence.

Shukoor filed the complaint with the district police chief two weeks ago. He had submitted the video clips of Sasikala making communal speeches at various places in the state.
