Bijimol MLA relegated over anti-party remarks

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI has removed party MLA E S Bijimol from the state council as a disciplinary action against her for her alleged anti-party remarks.

The firebrand woman leader who is a two-time MLA from Peermedu in Idukki district is now a member in the district council, a relegation from her membership in the state council of the party.

Bijimol had courted controversy with her reported remark that she was not made a minister in the LDF ministry as she did not have any "godfather" in the party.

She reportedly made the observation during an interview to a magazine after the state assembly polls in May.

The state executive, which met here Tuesday, had recommended that Bijimol be removed from the party state council.

The two-day party state council, being held at Alappuzha on Wednesday and Thursday, took the final decision on the matter. Party General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy also attended the meet.
