CPI-M leader denies rape charges

Thrissur: Vadakancherry Municipality Councillor and CPI-M leader P N Jayandan Thursday has refuted the sexual assault allegations levelled against him, saying that money is the main motive behind the rape charges.

“The woman and her husband owed him Rs 3 lakh and the allegations were made after he asked them to return the money,” the CPI-M leader said.

“Let the police take the legal action against me if they find charges against me are right,” he said.

Meanwhile, CPI-M area secretary has said a party level probe will be conducted into the charges against Jayandan.

“Action will be taken against him if he is found guilty,” he said.
