CPI-M leader among those involved in gang-rape, reveals victim

Kochi: A woman hailing from Thrissur, who was allegedly gang-raped by her husband’s friends two years ago, Thursday has revealed that a CPI-M leader, who represents as the councillor of Wadakkanchery municipality, are among those people who are involved in the crime.

The victim said she was gang-raped by CPI-M leader Jayanthan and her husband’s friends -Binesh, Jinesh and Shibu - in a car.

She also said she was forced to withdraw the complaint by the police and the accused.

“I had to face harsh response from the police officials when I went to the police station to file a complaint. Even after withdrawing the complaint, I had to face harassment from the police,” she told reporters.

The incident came to light after dubbing artist Bhagya Lakshmi said in a Facebook post about her meeting with the gang-rape victim. She began her Facebook post saying that “this might look like a cinema story. But it isn’t.”

“She told me that Nirbhaya, Soumya and Jisha were fortunate to have died post being raped. Otherwise, they would have had to go through several rounds of mental rape, just like her,” Bhagya Lakshmi said in her Facebook post.
