Kottayam: The UDF has called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Thrissur district Saturday in protest against the police using force on their workers during a march.
DCC president P.A Madhavan said the hospitals, news papers, milk, banking services and the PSC exams are exempted from the hartal.
Earlier in the day, the Congress-led UDF had organised a march to the collectorate demanding the arrest of CPI-M leader Jayanthan, an accused in the Thrissur gang-rape case.
