Plea seeking further probe in Jisha case dismissed

Kochi: The Ernakulam Sessions Court Thursday dismissed a plea filed by Jisha’s father Pappu asking further investigation into Jisha murder case.

Jisha’s father, in his plea, said the chargesheet filed by the special investigation team did not substantiate findings of postmortem report and circumstantial evidences in the case.

“It is highly unlikely for Ameerul Islam, the lone accused in the case, to have single-handedly overpowered a physically well-built woman like Jisha,” he said.

He said in the plea the police must probe into circumstances that led to opening of shutters to the canal soon after the murder.

Jisha was found murdered on April 28 near a canal here by her labourer-mother. The body was badly mutilated. There were injuries on her private parts, according to police.
