Chennithala to become UDF chairman

New Delhi: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala will soon be named Chairman of the United Democratic Front (UDF), a post rejected by former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Talking to the media here on Friday, Chennithala, currently the Opposition leader in the Assembly, said he would also take up the post of UDF Chairman.

As per the tradition, the post is held by the Opposition leader. However, Oommen Chandy was offered the job in an apparent move to keep the ‘balance’ among the factions in the party.
