Kathiroor Manoj murder case: CBI serves notice to P Jayarajan

Kannur: A CBI probe team has asked senior CPI-M leader P. Jayarajan to appear before them in the ongoing probe in the murder case of RSS activist Kathirur Manoj.

The notice was served to him on Tuesday to appear on Wednesday, but Jayarajan has asked for a week's time.

Jayarajan is presently the Kannur district secretary of the CPI-M. He was questioned for four hours by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last year in June, and was subsequently let off.

The CBI has so far arrested 23 people in the murder case that took place near here in 2014.

Jayarajan, 63, currently on bail in the another murder case is a former party legislator.

Manoj was one of the people accused of making an unsuccessful bid on the life of Jayarajan in 1999.

Manoj's assailants first threw a bomb on his vehicle and later hacked him to death.

Meanwhile, after Jayarajan's plea for anticipatory bail was previously rejected by the court. He is likely to file a fresh anticipatory bail during the week-long time he has been granted.
