EC’s Kerala visit to review poll preparedness begins

Thiruvananthapuram: The Election Commission’s three-day Kerala visit, as part of its review of election preparedness in poll-bound states, will begin on Wednesday.

The commission comprising Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi and fellow Commissioners A.K. Joti and O.P. Rawat would reach the state on Wednesday and return to Delhi on February 5.

It will interact with officers of the State administration and other stakeholders, including political parties.

Assembly elections are likely be held in Kerala in April-May. The term of the state assembly is coming to an end in June.

The Commissioners will meet top administration officials and police officers, besides representatives of political parties, before taking a call on fixing the poll schedule. The Commission is likely to announce the poll schedule in March.
