BJP slams Left over RSS worker's murder in Kannur

New Delhi: BJP Tuesday hit out at the Left over the murder of a 27-year old RSS worker in Kannur, claiming it has been "shaken" by the rise of the saffron outfit and is trying to "intimidate" it through the "politics of murder".

BJP national spokesperson MJ Akbar said the Left has no answer to give to the people over this "continuous" politics of violence and killings.

"In Kerala, the Left has opted for a continuous politics of murder and violence. Over 200 BJP activists have been killed," the Rajya Sabha MP alleged, adding that "the Left has no answer to give to the people".

"The Left has been shaken by the rise of BJP in Kerala and is trying to intimidate it through violence, murder and killings. But the people will not accept it and will give a befitting reply on election day, which is not far away," he said.

"In Kannur, a CPI-M leader has been apprehended for a murder," he said, adding that the "politics of murder" has become a pattern in Kerala.

A 27-year-old RSS worker was hacked to death in front of his aged parents at Papinesseri in Kannur district.

Sujit, who suffered serious injuries in the attack, succumbed to injuries before reaching hospital last night.

Police said some CPI-M sympathisers have been taken into custody for questioning.

While the Left party has described the incident as a fallout of a local issue, BJP leaders in Kannur have alleged that CPI-M was behind the attack.

BJP observed a 'hartal' in Kannur, Pappinessery and Azhikode areas to protest against the killing.
