Kochi: The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Friday rejected the CBI’s closure report in the death case of Chembarika Qazi C.M. Abdulla Moulavi.
The court was considering a plea filed by Muhammed Shafi, son of Chembarikka Qazi C.M Abdullah Moulavi, seeking a further probe into the death case.
The petitioner argued that the facts submitted by the CBI to substantiate their suicide claim were unscientific.
It was on February 15, 2010 Qasi C M Abdulla was found dead on the rocky seashore of Chembarikka.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing into the death case in 2013 had filed its closure report in the court stating that it was a case of suicide.
The case investigated by Nandakumaran Nair, ASP, CBI, Thiruvananthapuram, had revealed that the Qazi was depressed before committing suicide.
The case was first investigated by the local police and was handed over to the State Crime Branch later. Due to intense protest against the way the case was being investigated, the State government had handed over the case to the CBI.
The Samastha Kerala Jamyithul Ulema alleged that the Khasi was murdered. A report of the post-mortem examination that was carried out in the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital had confirmed injuries on the body of Abdulla Moulavi, they said.
