Sobhana George quits Congress, to contest as independent

Kochi: Former Congress MLA Sobhana George has quit the party.

She announced the decision on Wednesday and said she would contest from the Chengannur Assembly Constituency as an independent candidate. She has conveyed the decision to KPCC chief V M Sudheeran Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

“I can keep working for a party that does not recognize my service,” Sobhana George said.

Although there were reports of her joining, she refuted it and said Kerala Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee (KPTCC) leaders were propagating misleading information about her.
