Nirapara brand of powdered spices banned in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Nirapara brand of chilly, coriander and turmeric power have been banned by the Commissioner of Food Safety.

The decision was taken by the authorities after the samples were found to be adulterated with cheaper starch powder.

The Food Safety Commissioner directed the manufacturer to recall all banned products from the market and file a compliance report with the Commissioner.

The officials decided to ban the products as the manufacturer continued to sell adulterated spices powder despite notices sent, adjudications filed and fines imposed.
