Vital clues obtained in Sister Amala murder case: ADGP

Kottayam: ADGP K. Padmakumar Saturday said the probe team had got vital clues in connection with the mysterious death of Sister Amala at Pala in Kottayam.

“The probe is progressing in the right direction. It is clear that the culprit had an idea about the Convent and its functioning,” the ADGP told reporters.

On Friday, a person had surrendered at the Mahi police station claiming he killed Sister Amala. The police later confirmed that he was mentally ill.

"What he said last night (Thursday) has been denied by him today (Friday)," the police said.

The nun was found lying in a pool of blood in her room, with a deep cut on her head on Thursday morning.

Police in Kottayam have formed eight teams to solve the nun's murder at a convent in Pala. The convent housed 38 inmates.

The post-mortem examination report said the nun was hit with a strong object.
