Cooperative bank robbery: Main accused taken into custody

Kasargod: The Kasargod police on Thursday arrested the main accused in a case related to the robbery at the cooperative bank at Kudalu in the district on September 7. 

Kallankai native Duldul aka Shareef (42), who resides at Pachambala in Bandhiyod here, was taken into custody from Karnataka.

As per reports, the police have recovered some of the stolen gold and cash from Shareef.

The police had issued a lookout notice against him at airports following reports that he had fled to Nepal.

Two other accused persons – Shabeer (25) and Mahshooq (26) – had already been arrested in connection with the case. The police have intensified search for the other accused.

The burglary took place in broad daylight on September 7 when the five masked men barged into the bank at Kudalu on Sept 7, threatened the two women staff and a customer at knife point and decamped with 21 kg of gold ornaments and Rs 12 lakh cash.

A woman staffer who resisted their attempt was injured and was hospitalised.
