Chandrabose murder case: Key witness again changes statement

Thrissur: The key witness in the Chandrabose murder case, who had turned hostile on Monday, reverted to his earlier stand on Tuesday.

According to the first information report by police K C Anoop, a security staffer, is an eyewitness to industrialist Muhammed Nisham's grievous assault on his co-worker Chandrabose.

However, when the Thrissur district additional sessions court began the trail in the case on Monday, Anoop turned hostile and testified before judge K P Sudheer that he had neither seen Nisham inflicting fatal injuries on Chandrabose nor had the accused rammed the victim intentionally with his car.

Anoop, however, went back to his earlier stand on Tuesday and said he stuck with his statement to the magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC.

He said he changed the statement on Monday due to duress from certain quarters but decided to stick with the earlier stand after seeing the reaction of the media and the society.

Chandrabose had succumbed to injuries at a private medical college in Thrissur on February 16, 2015, after Nisham assaulted him and ran him over with his Hummer on January 29.
