Yet to decide on CM candidate, says Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI-M State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Monday said it was yet to be decided that who would lead the party in the Assembly elections that are just six months away.

Asked about CPI leader C Divakaran’s statement that veteran leader V S Achuthanandan should lead the LDF in the next Assembly elections, Kodiyeri said CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran had already made clear their party’s stand on the issue.

“Achuthanandan is a senior most leader of the party in the State. The party has always given him that respect,” Kodiyeri said.

Rejecting the statement made by C Divakaran, Kanam Rajendran had said the LDF does not have a practice of projecting the CM candidate ahead of the elections. “Even those who did not contest were made Chief Ministers. CPI did not have a discussion on this matter and C Divakaran’s statement can be taken only as his personal opinion,” Kanam had said.
