Vellapally a usurer Shylock: VS

Adimali: Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan Saturday has hit out at SNDP general secretary Vellapally Natesan, calling the latter as usurer Shylock, a fictional character in Shakeaspear’s play.

“Even Shakespearian character Shylock, a ruthless moneylender, will bow before Vellapally,” alleged Achuthanandan.

“Alappuzha is known as the Venice of the East. Vellappally is staying in Kanichukulangara in adjoining Cherthala taluk. Shylocks reached Ernakulam and proceeded through Cherthala to Kanichukulangara and arrived at Vellappally’s doorstep. Further, he bowed before Vellappally,” he said.

The CPI(M) veteran had earlier alleged that Vellappally Natesan had siphoned off funds from microfinance ventures targeting economically weaker sections of the Ezhava community.

Natesan, however, had rubbished the charges against him, saying that if the allegations were found true, he was prepared to quit public life.
