Sabarimala: S.E. Sankaran Namboothiri has been elected the new head priest (melsanthi) of Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple.
Sankaran Namboothiri, a native of Kottayam, will serve as the head priest of Sree Dharmasastra Temple for the coming pilgrimage season.
The elections were held in front of the sanctum sanctorum of the respective temples through a draw Sunday morning.
E S Unnikrishnan was named the new melsanthi of Malikappuram temple.
