Light Metro: State to submit DPR in a week

New Delhi: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) on the proposed Light Metro projects in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode in the State will be submitted to the Centre in a week.

He was talking to the media after meeting Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu here on Friday.

The Union minster said that the Centre has an ‘open mind’ towards the Light Metro projects in Kerala.

“The Centre will take appropriate steps once the Kerala government submitted the DPR,” the minister said.

The minister said cities like Kannur and Guruvayur wil be included in the Amrut City Yojna launched by the central government. He added the government was in favour of projects like the ‘Laksham Veedu’ scheme in Kerala.

V K Ibrahim Kunju, Minister for Works and KMRL principal advisor E Sreedharan also accompanied Chandy.

The Chief Minister will also meet Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari to invite him to some of the programmes in Kerala.
