Crime Branch SP to examine if re-probe possible

Kochi: The Ernakulam Crime Branch SP has been entrusted with the task of examining if there is a probability to conduct a re-probe into the death of Swami Saswathikananda of the Sivagiri mutt.

ADGP Ananthakrishnan issued a directive in this regard and Crime Branch SP P K Madhu has been given charge.

Biju Ramesh had triggered a row with his charge that Swami was done to death by SNDP head Vallpally Natesan and his son Thushar.

Natesan, however, had rejected the charges on Oct 10 and said he was ready to face any probe, including by CBI.

Swami drowned in Periyar river at Aluva on July 1, 2002.
