Bodo militant leader arrested in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: An absconding leader of the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland in Assam has been arrested from a house on the outskirts of the city, police said Tuesday.

Dinga Elias Libyan Pasumathari (38), NDFB state organising secretary, was arrested at Kakkodimukku last night by the Kerala state Intelligence wing police following a tip-off, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sathananandam said.

Dinga is a native of No.1, Balapara village in Kokrajar district of Assam, he said.

NDFB, a terrorist organisation banned by the central government, had some 250 members fighting against the Assam government, of which they lost about 50 to 100 in the last one year, he said.

Dinga escaped from there and stayed with some migrant labourers here for the last one month. He was put under surveillance for the last few days, he added.

His photograph was taken and sent to Assam police who confirmed it.

Dinga has been arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and will be handed over to Assam police later.
