IFFK: 'Touring Talkies' to showcase previous festival winners

Thiruvananthapuram: The state-run Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA), in association with the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) and Kesari Memorial Journalists Trust, is organising a Touring Film festival in the state from November 15 till December 3. 

The initiative, which looks to whet appetite for cinema in the run-up to the 20th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), will screen films that won the 'Suvarna Chakoram' (Golden Crow Pheasant) - the IFFK's top prize - at past festivals. 

The screening venues will be the press club halls in all 14 Kerala districts, starting with Kasargod and ending in Thiruvananthapuram, an official release said here today. 

N A Nellikkunnu MLA will flag off the touring festival at an inaugural ceremony at Kasargod Press Club on November 15. 

KSCA executive member Aryadan Shaukath, Kasargod press club president Sunny Joseph and secretary P Raveendran Ravaneshwaram will attend the function, it said. 

The festival will be greeted at Parassala township on Wednesday, December 2, by KSCA chairman T Rajivnath and will wind up with a screening at Manaveeyam Veedhi here on December 3, the release added. 

IFFK 2015, Kerala's premier film festival, runs from December 4-11.
