Migrant labourer likely behind murder of three of a family

Kottayam: A special investigation team probing the murder of three members of a family at Parampuzha near here on Friday raided a house where the suspected murderer, a migrant labourer from Uttar Pradesh, stayed.

The police suspect that Narendra, a native of Firozabad in UP, is the person behind the murder.

Lalasan, a laundry owner, his wife Prasannakumari, a nurse in a government hospital, and their son Praveen were found brutally murdered in their house on May 17.

Narendra, who was engaged by the deceased, had joined the job introducing himself as Jai Singh. He, however, appeared as Nihal Singh in an identity card submitted by him for getting a mobile sim card one and half years back. The police have found out that the names given by him were incorrect.

The mobile phone and a bag used by Lalasan’s son Praveen were recovered from Narendra’s home in the raid.

The three were found dead in the morning by some people who had come to collect their clothes from the laundry adjacent to the victim's house.

Acid was poured on the three as they were bashed with an axe and electrocuted.

The motive for the gruesome act is under investigation.
