HSE results: 83.96 % students qualify for higher education

Thiruvananthapuram: The pass percentage in higher secondary examinations in Kerala has risen to 83.96 per cent this year against 79.39 per cent last year with girls outshining boys.

Of the 3,43,459 students who appeared for the examinations held in March last, a total of 2,88,362 became eligible for higher studies, according to the results declared Thursday.

Releasing the results at a press conference here, state Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb said of the 1,83,460 girls who took the examination, as many as 1,62,908 came out triumphs.

Among the 1,59,999 boys, a total of 1,24,454 qualified for higher studies.

Among the districts, Kozhikode with a pass percentage of 87.05 topped the state while Pathanamthitta recorded the lowest of 76.17 per cent.

Thiruvananthapuram District emerged in the top in best overall performance with 1,248 candidates scoring 'A' grade in all subjects.
