Kaapa slapped on Muhammed Nisham

Thrissur: Controversial businessman Muhammed Nisham, the main accused in the murder of security guard Chandrabose, at his apartment complex in Thrissur, has been booked under Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (Kaapa).

Thrissur collector M S Jaya, who is also the district executive magistrate, issued the order for invoking Kaapa on Nisham on Monday following legal advice as there were doubts whether he could be charged under the Act in cases that have been settled out of court.

The police had earlier submitted supportive documents for booking him under Kaapa.

As per the documents submitted by Thrissur city police commissioner R Nishanthini to the collector, Kaapa can been slapped on Nisham in all 13 cases -including 11 in Kerala and two in Bengaluru.

As per the Kaapa, Nisham can be detained for six months even if he gets bail in the Chandrabose case.

He is currently lodged in Viyyur jail.

The security guard of Shobha City residential complex, K Chandrabose (47) breathed his last at Amala Medical College in Thrissur. He had undergone several surgeries and had been on ventilator support for last few days after his health deteriorated.

Nisham had rammed Chandrabose with his Hummer in the wee hours of January 29 alleging there was a slight delay in opening the gate of the residential complex, where Nisham owns an apartment. He was arrested on the same day on charge of attempt to murder.
