DGP had tried to sabotage probe into Chandrabose's death: P.C George

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Whip P.C George Thursday said the state DGP had tried to sabotage probe into the death of Chandrabose, a security guard.

“The DGP had tried to sabotage probe into the death of Chandrabose. I’ve the evidences of it and that will be handed over to the Chief Minister and Home Minister tomorrow,” George said in an interview to a news channel.

“The DGP has a good relationship with Nizam. Nizam’s wife was not named as an accused in the case because of his intervention,” he said.

“Jacob Job was made scapegoat in the case,” he added.

Earlier, senior police official Jacob Job who initially probed the case was suspended for alleged lapses in the investigation. It was alleged that Job had questioned Nizam alone in violation of procedures.

In the aftermath of the latest incident, there were reports that there was 'soft pedalling' of pending criminal cases against Nizam. But state DGP had denied the charge.

Chandrabose, 50, was seriously injured when Muhammad Nizam allegedly mowed him down by his Hummer car in a fit of rage for delay in opening the gate of his apartment complex. The security guard had succumbed to injuries on February 16.
