Rajya Sabha polls: Chandy to hold talks with UDF partners

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday said a decision on candidates for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections from the state would be taken after discussions with ruling UDF partners.

"The ruling Front has authorised me to hold discussion with coaliation leaders to decide on the candidates for the Rajya Sabha seats", he told reporters here.

Three members from Kerala -- former Union Minister Vayalar Ravi (Congress), P Rajeev (CPI-M) and M P Achuthan (CPI) -- are retiring from the upper house next month.

As per the present strength in the state assembly, the ruling UDF can win two seats and CPI-M-led LDF opposition one.
