CPI-CPI(M) reunification unlikely soon: Kanam

Puducherry: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran Wednesday said the reunification of the CPI and CPI(M) was unlikely to take place in the near future.

“There are ideological differences between the CPI and CPI(M). The reunification between the two parties is an issue based on principles,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the 22nd CPI's Congress being held in Puducherry.

Informed sources, meanwhile, say that the CPI’s party organisational report says the CPI(M)'s retrograde stand was a major hurdle in the path of the unity of the Left parties.

When asked about the controversies over Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan, Kanam said “it is the internal matter of the CPI(M).”
