Proud of what happened that day, says EP Jayarajan on Assembly ruckus

Kannur: CPI-M Central Committee member EP Jayarajan MLA on Tuesday said he was proud of whatever happened in the Assembly as part of the LDF protest during the budget presentation on Friday.

Jayarajan, who was suspended along with four other opposition MLAs till the end of Assembly session for allegedly vandalizing Speaker's dais during the budget presentation, said he did not care about the suspension.

The MLA of Mattannur constituency added he was not responsible to anyone else but to the people who elected him. “I could raise the voice of the people in the Assembly. I was elected as MLA not in the expense of Oommen Chandy.”

The other suspended MLAs are KT Jaleel, V Sivankutty, K Kunjahammed Master and K Ajit.

Finance minister KM Mani on Friday presented the 13th state budget amid ruckus created by opposition parties who are demanding his resignation.

The incident turned violent during the budget presentation when MLAs attempted to stall it. It was reported that a section of them vandalised the Speaker's dais, toppled his chair and flung the mics.
