Karipur shooting episode: 50 CISF jawans transferred

Karipur: Around 50 CISF personnel have been transferred following the melee at Karipur international airport in which a jawan was killed Wednesday night.

An order was issued on Saturday transferring the jawns to Bangalore.

 The action is reportedly based on an internal investigation report by the CISF.

The transferred jawans are those who were found directly involved in the incident.

Cases have also been have also registered against 25 CISF personnel in connection with the clashes at Karipur airport between central security personnel and Airport Authority of India (AAI) staff.

Police had earlier arrested 9 AAI officials who were produced in court Saturday and remanded to judicial custody till June 27. They were arrested on a complaint from CISF commander Biju.

After the violence, the airport had been temporarily closed following which flights were diverted to Nedumbassery airport in Kochi on the night of June 10. The flight operations resumed the next day.
